Shop Small This Season
Updated: Nov 16, 2021
2020 has been rough on so many local small businesses. I’ve made a pledge to support small this holiday season. Here’s a list of some of my favorite places to purchase gifts and experiences for everyone on my shopping list.
Who wouldn’t love a wine trio for the holidays? Order online or drop in store for the wine lover in your life.
I personally have been working with Kylee to get my eating back on track this year. I'm actually eating more and still losing weight! Kylee's personalized approach has helped me to understand which foods work for me and why. No foods are "off limits" and her program is the "last diet" you will ever need. Give the gift of nutrition this season.
I know what you're thinking, lighting as a gift? YES! Bridget will help your friends and family GET LIT this holiday season. Purchase a gift certificate to brighten up someone’s Christmas.
Red Stick Reads is Baton Rouge’s newest locally owned bookshop. Instead of giving your money to Amazon, contact Tere and James! Drop in to see their adorable brick and mortar shop to purchase books and puzzles, plus they can order any book on your gift list. I’ve already placed my order :)
Check out Damien’s handmade leather wallets. I’m ordering one for my hubby (and one for me!)
Kelsey is out of New Orleans, but I absolutely ADORE her shop. With fringe jackets, sparkly head wraps, and sequin-sleeved t-shirts, you will definitely find something for that person who loves to stand out!
Not only does Tia have gorgeous clothes and accessories, she can personalize anything on your gift list at her Design Bar.
Not only do they have beautiful, fair trade gifts, The Hope Shop provides educational and economic resources to their makers to empower remote communities to rise above poverty. I love supporting companies with a mission!
Iverstine Farms has the gift of meat! Try their Butcher Bundles as a one time or subscription gift. You get so much bang for your buck on these.
Gift your loved one a photo session with the amazingly talented Jordan. All of my website and Instagram photos are done by her. Isn't she talented?!
Want to try a cooking class from your own home? Try a virtual class with Lili Courtney. I’ve participated myself and had the most fun!
Support lots lof local makers at the Midcity Makers Market located at the Electric Depot. From jewelry, to clothes and pottery you will definitely find a unique gift for the person who has everything. The next markets will be November 20th and December 19th from 4:00 to 8:00. Some of my favorites are Modern Lulu and Firefly Jewelry.
Every Louisiana girl deserves some Mimosa! This Louisiana themed jewelry can be found at local markets, online, and in the new Wanderlust by Abby.
Check out the newly renovated (and organized) kitchen at Red Stick Spice with a cooking class. Don’t forget to purchase all of your ingredients to recreate the meal you learned in the class. Private classes are available so gather up your closest quarantine friends for a night out.
I recently treated myself to one of Sweet Baton Rouge’s cozy corded sweatshirts and it is amazing! So soft and hygge! Order online or check out their new store front in the Electric Depot.
Still haven’t found the perfect gift? Try a gift card or gift certificate from any of Baton Rouge’s amazing restaurants and locally owned coffee shops. You can’t go wrong with a great cup of coffee and a tasty meal.
This sweet sister duo has you covered from cute clothing and handmade jewelry to monthly LYLAS boxes for friends and family to receive a little something special year round.
With a brand new, expanded storefront, you are destined to find something cute at Wanderlust. Abby carries lots of local makers to help you support small this season.
Still haven’t found that perfect gift? Purchase gift cards from our local coffee shops and restaurants.
